Upgrading A Historic Feature of Boston
Celebrating four decades of Boston’s history, Walker Development was honored to take on a project with Old Town Trolley Tours and in partnership with Hunneman to install a new trolley wash, maintenance area, fuel storage with pump station, and a new state-of-the-art curb-out. It also required significant plumbing, underground trenching for the trolley wash system, utility work, and vacuum excavation.
The exterior work included the revamping of the sidewalk and traffic lights to accommodate the trolley entrance egress into the trolley bay, along with a new thirty-foot emergency gate required by the town.
All new HVAC exhaust fans, cooling, and heating systems were installed. Five expansive overhead garage doors were installed along with weatherproof insulation on the perimeter walls.
With evidence of environmental risk at hand, careful handling of hazardous waste material was required for excavation into the soil. Walker’s team worked diligently with a licensed soil professional (LSP) to meet DEP requirements, to install the new water holding tank.
